In short: Cookie Editor works entirely on your device. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. We operate no servers, run no analytics, and never see your cookies.

This Privacy Policy describes how the Cookie Editor browser extension ("the extension", "we", "us") handles data. It applies to the extension as distributed through the Chrome Web Store.

What the extension does

Cookie Editor lets you view, create, edit, and delete cookies for the websites you visit. All of these actions happen only when you initiate them, and all processing happens locally inside your browser.

Data the extension accesses

• Cookie data. When you open the extension, it reads the cookies of the site you are viewing so it can display them to you. When you edit or delete a cookie, the change is applied directly in your browser. Cookie data is never transmitted to us or to any third party.
• Settings and preferences. Options you configure (such as display preferences) are stored in your browser using the extension storage API. If you have Chrome's built-in sync enabled, Chrome may sync this settings data across your own devices through your Google account; that syncing is performed by your browser under Google's privacy policy, not by us.

Data we collect

None. The extension has no server component. We do not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data, browsing history, cookie contents, or usage analytics. There is no telemetry, no tracking, no advertising, and no error reporting sent to us.

Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share any user data with anyone, because we never receive it in the first place.

Why the extension requests its permissions

• cookies — required to read, modify, and delete cookies. This is the core function of the extension.
• storage — required to save your settings locally in your browser.
• declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess — used only for an optional "disable HTTP" setting that, when you turn it on, upgrades plain http:// page loads to https://. This works through a declarative rule applied locally by your browser: the extension cannot read, intercept, or record the contents of your network requests, and nothing is sent anywhere. When the setting is off, no rule is active.
• Host access (http://*/*, https://*/*) — cookies exist on every website, so the extension needs permission to work on whichever site you choose to use it on. It only acts on a site when you open and use the extension there.

Chrome Web Store user data policy

The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Children

The extension is a developer utility and is not directed at children. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If our data practices ever change, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Because the extension collects no data, we expect changes to be rare.
